In 1980 the
Riviera sports watch par excellence made of gold and steel was first
produced. To test Baume Et Mercier watches durability and precision, the watch was
mounted on the wheel of a BMW M1 before the start of the Le Mans
(which lies on the Prime Meridian) 24 hour race. The watch endured
the speed, heat and weather and ran perfectly after the race
